The U.S. Geological Survey streamflow gage, USGS 04121650, Muskegon River at Big Rapids, Mich., is located on the west bank of the river on the property of the City of Big Rapids Sewage Treatment Plant. Equipment in the gage house includes a water-stage recorder, continuous water-quality monitor, and two automatic suspended-sediment samplers.
