By: Hendrickson, G.E., and Doonan, C.J.

Abstract

The Sturgeon River, one of the best brown trout streams in Michigan, is located in the north-central part of the southern peninsula of Michigan with headwaters just north of Gaylord. The purpose of this 2-sheet hydrologic atlas is to describe these characteristics and to show how they relate to recreational uses. Sheet 1 of this atlas presents information on streamflow characteristics and water quality. Sheet 2 describes the physical characteristics of the stream channel and bed and banks, and shows how these physical characteristics relate to streamflow, water quality, and recreational use.
